Mia Grim is a performer and choreographer originally from Plymouth, Michigan, where she received 13 years of formal dance training at Central City Dance Center. Mia is passionate about exploring new places and experiencing everything the world has to offer. Knowing this, she followed her desire to move far from home.
She attended the University of Minnesota, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Dance and fell in love with Minneapolis. Mia worked in residencies that culminated in student performances for several artists. These artists include jess pretty, Carlo Antonio Villanueva, Shakia Barron, and Laja Field during her time at the U of M. Additionally Mia has spent her summers training at STEPS on Broadway and Joffrey Ballet School, as well as interning.
Additionally, she competed on the Premier dance team at the D1A collegiate level for two years. As Mia continued her dance education, she also found a passion for rehabilitation and the intersections of dance and care. Her pursuit of research in dance rehabilitation was inspired by the supplemental coursework she chose, including anatomy and cadaver lab work, human physiology, sports nutrition, and developmental and abnormal psychology.
As a performer, Mia values determination and grit, while also taking time to look inward, reflect on what brings her pleasure and care, while giving herself grace. Balance and autonomy are crucial to her self-care practice. Immediately post-grad, Mia moved to NYC to begin her administrative internship with Joffrey Ballet School and pursue a professional performance career.
