teaching

Mia is a passionate, multifaceted dance teacher and leader. She frequently teaches at competitive dance studios between Detroit and Minneapolis. Furthermore, she started a program at the University of Minnesota that allowed dance students to host free drop-in classes for their peers.

Mia tries to curate a space that inspires dancers to find community through encouragement and support. She aims to get dancers to step out of their comfort zones to explore new capabilities. Bringing a diverse range of styles to her toolbox, including contemporary, jazz, jazz-funk, and lyrical.

In her career thus far, Mia has seen many of the dancers she has taught, as well as her peers, experience burnout. Many of them are forced to end their dance careers earlier than they want to because of injuries and or lack of education about their bodies. She believes there is a better way to support dancers, and her career goal is to identify the practices necessary to keep dancers safe. She hopes to share that knowledge with future generations through teaching. As the dance industry continues to raise the bar on what is humanly possible, Mia is committed to helping ensure that this progress does not come at the expense of dancers’ health.
